REAL SIMONS, our maker partner, built this model on a period racing jacket from the founder’s own collection, then laid the design thinking of the 1950s café racer over it and substantially reworked the pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe body is shorter, the shoulders and chest wider, so the outline suits how people are built today rather than the long, narrow look period pieces often have. The front stays clean, with a hidden pocket set a little further back. The main zip is a double-slider that also opens from the hem, so the jacket will not bunch while you ride. Stand collar, zipped cuffs. The wool-blend lining carries a large patch pocket on each side, big enough for a phone.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe shell is tea-core horsehide: black at the surface with a brown core left beneath.
