Sizing & Fit
1. How do I choose my boot size?
For most customers, we recommend ordering your usual US boot size.
If you normally wear a half size and that size is not available, we generally recommend sizing up. For example, if you usually wear US 8.5, choose US 9.
If you have wide feet, a high instep, or usually wear EE/EEE width, we recommend sizing up or choosing a model available in wide width.
For the most accurate fit, please measure your foot length in mm and compare it with our size guide.
2. Should I use my sneaker size or boot size?
Please use your usual boot size as the main reference, not your sneaker size.
Sneakers often fit differently from heritage boots. If you know your size in brands like Red Wing, Wesco, Whites, Chippewa, or other heritage boots, that is usually a better reference.
If you are unsure, send us your foot length, foot width, and usual boot size before ordering.
3. Do your boots run true to size?
Our boots are generally made true to size.
However, fit can vary depending on the boot model, your foot width, and your instep height. Engineer boots, in particular, may feel roomy in the toe but snug across the instep because they are pull-on boots.
If you are between sizes, have wide feet, or plan to wear thick socks or orthotic inserts, please contact us before ordering.
4. How do I choose my jacket size?
Please choose your jacket size based on your body measurements and the garment measurements on each product page.
For the best fit, compare the measurements with a jacket you already own and like. Measure it flat across the chest, shoulders, sleeve, and back length.
If you are unsure, send us your height, weight, chest measurement, shoulder width, and your usual jacket size. We will help recommend the best size.
5. Do your jackets fit small?
Some of our jackets have a vintage-inspired fit and may feel smaller or shorter than modern casual jackets.
Leather jackets should fit close to the body, but they should not feel restrictive across the chest, shoulders, or upper arms.
If you are between two sizes, have broad shoulders, or prefer layering, we usually recommend sizing up.
6. Do you check sizing before shipping?
Yes. We manually review orders before shipping whenever sizing may be uncertain.
If we think the selected size may not be the best fit, we may contact you by email before processing the order.
To avoid delays, please make sure your email address is correct when placing your order.
7. Do you offer custom or extended sizes?
Selected boot models are available in extended sizes, including some larger sizes and wide-width options.
Custom or extended-size orders may require additional production time and may include a price adjustment depending on the model.
Please note that custom boot orders, special sizes, leather changes, outsole changes, and other non-standard modifications are final sale unless there is a confirmed manufacturing defect.
Shipping & Orders
8. How long will it take until I receive my order?
Total delivery time includes both processing time and shipping time.
- Non-boot items usually take 3–7 business days to process.
- Standard boot orders are made to order and usually take 2–4 weeks to produce.
- Custom boot orders usually take 3–5 weeks to produce.
After production is complete, shipping usually takes 10–16 business days to the United States and 10–20 business days to other countries.
9. Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to selected countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and more.
Available shipping countries may vary at checkout.
10. Are customs duties and taxes included?
Yes. Customs duties and taxes are included in the product price.
EU VAT is also prepaid by Brake House, so EU customers should not need to pay additional VAT upon delivery.
11. How do I know if my order is confirmed?
After placing your order, you will receive an order confirmation email.
If you do not receive the confirmation email, please check your spam or promotions folder first.
If you still cannot find it, contact us at support@brakehouseshop.com with your name and email address used at checkout.
12. Can I change my shipping address after my order is placed?
If your order has not shipped yet, we may be able to update your shipping address.
Please contact us as soon as possible at support@brakehouseshop.com with your order number and the correct shipping address.
Once an order has shipped, we may not be able to change the address.
13. Can I cancel my order?
If your order has not entered production or shipped yet, we may be able to cancel it.
Made-to-order and custom items may not be cancelable once production has started.
Please contact us as soon as possible with your order number.
14. Can I return or exchange my order?
We accept returns within 20 days of receipt, as long as the item is unworn, unwashed, unused, and in original resalable condition with all original tags and packaging.
Shipping costs for returns are the customer's responsibility, including both the original outbound shipping cost and the return shipping cost back to us.
This applies even if the original order qualified for free shipping at checkout — the actual outbound shipping cost we paid will still be deducted from the refund.
The only exception is when the item is confirmed to have a manufacturing defect, in which case Brake House covers all shipping costs.
Custom orders, special sizes, leather changes, outsole changes, and other non-standard modifications cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a confirmed manufacturing defect.
Product & Materials
15. Where are your products made?
Brake House works with skilled specialist makers overseas to produce heritage-inspired leather jackets, boots, denim, and accessories.
We focus on material quality, construction, and fair pricing rather than inflated retail markup.
Each product page lists key materials and construction details, such as full-grain leather, horsehide, Goodyear welt construction, VIBRAM® outsoles, wool lining, or shearling where applicable.
16. What is tea-core leather?
Tea-core leather has a darker surface finish over a lighter leather core.
As the jacket, boot, or belt wears over time, the lighter core gradually appears at high-contact areas, creating a natural patina unique to the wearer.
This is one of the reasons many customers choose tea-core leather: it becomes more personal with wear.
