Description

California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers (CHP, founded 1929) wore leather jackets in colder months. Later known simply as CHP jackets, they inspired many classic American motorcycle jackets. Based on an original 1940s CHP, this version updates the proportions for modern fit while keeping the broad-shouldered, full-chested cut. Built from heavyweight full-grain vegetable-tanned tea-core horsehide.

I’m about 5'9" tall and weigh around 165 lb, with a 42-inch chest and a shoulder width of about 23 inches. I usually wear a size L in summer, but sizing up works perfectly for this jacket. Even with a thick fleece vest underneath, it still fits very well?especially around the shoulders. The leather is more resilient than cowhide, with a beautifully glossy finish. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied.

My height is about 5'11" and I weigh around 183 lb, with a chest measurement of 43 inches. I wear size XL and it fits perfectly. The cut is excellent with a nicely defined waistline, and from the back it creates a flattering inverted triangle shape. The leather texture and pores are very clear, and overall it offers great value for the price.
