Leather Togs outfitted Harley-Davidson riders from the 1910s and was one of America's largest motorcycle-leather makers until it closed in the 1950s. We took its early-1930s D-Pocket jacket, the design that BUCO, BECK and nearly everyone else later borrowed, and rebuilt it with Real Simons, keeping the vintage silhouette while upgrading the fit for real riding.

The collar keeps its true 1920s–30s angle and curve. The D-Pocket is full, rounded and functional, with its own zipper-pull. Cuffs stay snug against the wind. The waist belt, glove-securing epaulets and the four round studs on each sleeve, Leather Togs' signature, are all kept. Inside: a wool-blend body with plaid sleeves. Cut broad through the shoulders and chest, tapered through the body.

IDEAL zippers and an old-style steel buckle throughout. Black is full-grain horsehide. Brown is an amber-dyed vegetable-tanned horsehide, a Real Simons overseas exclusive, with deeper grain and a russet cast that lightens as it breaks in. That hide is why brown costs a little more.

I've wanted a proper early D-pocket jacket for years, and seeing more brands revisit this style lately only made me want one more. After looking at several versions, the Real Simons x Brake House Archetype was easily my favorite. Following the development on Instagram gave me a lot of confidence too. Seeing the process openly and knowing that people with real knowledge of vintage jackets were involved made this feel like more than just another reproduction. Now that I have it in hand, it absolutely delivers. The design has so much attitude and presence. This is exactly the D-pocket I had been waiting for.

I was a little nervous about sizing because the proportions are quite different from most leather jackets I own. I sent Brake House my measurements along with the size of a jacket that fits me well, and they suggested going one size smaller than I originally planned. Glad I listened. The shoulders sit exactly where they should, there's enough room through the chest, and the short length gives it the silhouette I was hoping for without feeling too small. Their sizing advice was spot on.
